Family Attractions in Kent

There are plenty of choices of days out for kids in Kent. Get them out in the fresh air and burn off some of their energy. If the weather is bad there are plenty of indoor tourist attractions in Kent.

The Hop Farm Family Park

The Hop Farm offers a wide range of diversions for families with children of all ages. The fossil collecting site is a must see, allowing enthusiasts a rare chance to see early life from millions of years ago. The Hop Farm also houses plenty of items of historical importance, especially with respect to it's steep history of hop production but it now includes play areas, rides, cafe/restaurant and the majestic shire horses. There are seasonal events on all year round and during school holidays and breaks there are additional themed events with plenty to keep the young ones occupied.

The play area boasts giant jumping pillows, an awesome climbing area and a driving school. There are also farm animals to visit and you may well see an old tank or military vehicle on display as well. The wax works is another recent addition and your family get to experience Kentish life as it would have been in ages past.

Maidstone Road, Paddock Wood, Kent, TN12 6PY

The Historic Dockyard , Chatham.

Whatever the weather you can have a great day out at the historic dockyard in Chatham. It's an 80 acre site with a wide variety of attractions and fantastic buildings. There are the historic warships, Victorian ropery tour, lifeboat museum, items rescued from the Cutty Sark, the police museum (complete with its own Dr Who style police box) and much more.

For those with mobility issues or children in pushchairs, will find all the galleries and attractions are generally accessible. There is also an electric buggy available for all visitors.

Dickens World, Chatham Maritime.

Dodge the weather with one of the county's most popular attractions. With plenty of atmosphere and special effects you'll get the feel of the Dickensian era.

Visit the Britannia Theatre and enjoy the animatronics show, try a 4D cinema show and have a meal at the themed restaurant and bar. If you've got time to spare you could always do a spot of shopping afterwards at the Dockside outlet centre next door.

Dover Castle & the Secret Wartime Tunnels

Sample Kent's heritage at Dover Castle. There is plenty to do and see even in the rain.

The history of Dover castle stretches back to the iron age. The castle boasts a wide range of reconstructions and exhibitions giving a flavour of life in the castle throughout the ages. Personally I found the secret wartime tunnels fascinating. The underground hospital and military command centre really bring the history of WWII to life. It's a day out with something for everyone.
